Robert Allan Oblon
Trained as a sculptor, Robert Oblon has
transformed the organic shapes of his bronze sculptures into
flattened abstract constructions reminiscent of the move
from surrealism to abstract expressionism. The flowing arcs
and voluptuous shapes have evolved from the sensual body
forms of his bronze work. Robert’s current pieces draw historically
from Kienholtz and Rauschenberg, the muscular Mexican muralist
techniques of Siqueiros, and the bright Latin colors distinctive
to L.A. Chicano art.
